Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 26, 2026
Fare Hacker is built on a simple principle: your data is yours. We collect what we need to run the service, and nothing more. Here's exactly what that means.
What We Collect
When you use Fare Hacker, we may collect:
- Account info: email address and password (hashed, never stored in plain text)
- Search history: your trip searches, so we can show you relevant results and fare alerts
- Loyalty balances: if you choose to enter them, so we can optimize award bookings
- Preferences: home airport, traveler profiles, notification settings
- Usage data: pages visited, features used — to improve the product
What We Don't Do
- We never sell your personal data to anyone
- We never share your data with third parties for marketing purposes
- We never use your loyalty balances or travel history for anything other than helping you find better deals
Cookies
We use functional cookies only — the kind that keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies. No cookie banners needed because we're not doing anything shady.
Third-Party Services
We use a small number of trusted services to run Fare Hacker:
- Cloudflare — DNS and DDoS protection
- AWS — hosting and infrastructure
- Stripe — payment processing (we never see or store your full card number)
- Plaid — if you connect a financial account for loyalty tracking (optional, you initiate this)
Each of these services has their own privacy policy and processes only the minimum data needed to provide their service.
Affiliate Links
When you click a booking link on Fare Hacker, you may be redirected through an affiliate link. This means the airline, hotel, or booking platform knows you came from Fare Hacker. We may earn a commission from that click or booking at no extra cost to you. The affiliate partner receives your click data, but we do not share any of your Fare Hacker account information with them.
Data Security
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL) for all data in transit and encrypt sensitive data at rest. Passwords are hashed using modern algorithms. We regularly review our security practices.
Data Retention & Deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you want your data deleted, email hello@farehacker.app and we'll remove your personal data within 30 days. Some anonymized, aggregated data (like "X users searched for flights to Tokyo this month") may be retained for analytics.
Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Regardless of where you live, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate data
- Deletion — ask us to delete your data
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Opt out — of any data processing beyond what's needed to run the service (though we don't do any)
If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA respectively. We honor all of them. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@farehacker.app.
Children's Privacy
Fare Hacker is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Family plan traveler profiles for minors are managed by the account holder (parent/guardian).
Changes to This Policy
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll notify you by email or a notice on the site. Minor wording changes won't trigger a notification.
